Interest rate speculations for the Fed and rising crude oil prices may have put a lid on CAD/JPY’s gains. But how low can CAD/JPY go before it attracts consistent buyers? Remember…

@thebellsareringing I believe illegal immigration is more of a political talking point, as there are so many uninsured Americans in the US now. Illegals are just a scapegoat for our under funded medical and overpriced insurance. In reality though the ER’s are overloaded, their overhead costs (i.e. rent, salaries) are fixed (sure there are costs associated with a la cart laboratory testing, but this is minor, as most going to an ER can be resolved with stiches or antibotics). The real result of overloading the ER is the wait time, which though bad for customer service (10 patients vs 100 will…

Most Read: Gold Price Forecast – Core PCE Data to Guide Markets Ahead of Fed DecisionThe U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis will release on Friday core personal consumption expenditures data, the Fed’s favorite inflation gauge. The strength or weakness of the report relative to Wall Street’s consensus estimates is likely to shape the U.S. dollar’s near-term trajectory and possibly influence the FOMC’s guidance at its January meeting next week.In terms of estimates, core PCE is forecast to have risen 0.2% in December, bringing the annual rate down to 3.0% from 3.2% in November – a step in the right direction…

REUTERS/Sergei Karpukhin/File Photo (Reuters) – Unionized journalists at Forbes said they were staging a three-day walk-out from Thursday to protest alleged denial of rights and slow contract negotiations that have stretched for more than two years. CIBC writes about today’s GDP and the US consumer going forward. Personal consumption rose at a 2.8% annualized pace in the report, a deceleration from 3.1% in Q3 but still at a healthy clip, including an increase in services consumption to 2.4% from 2.2%.The slight deceleration in consumption growth was accounted for by an easing in the pace of goods spending. Although durable goods spending slowed, given how restrictive monetary policy is, it’s impressive that it’s still 6% above year-ago levels,” CIBC writes.”Despite slower labor income, total income growth gained momentum, supplemented by higher interest and dividend income, while real…
Share: Euro tumbles from familiar technical levels after ECB offers dovish tone. Europe sees thin economic data until GDP update next Tuesday. Broader markets to focus on Friday’s US PCE Price Index to wrap up the trading week. The Euro (EUR) fell on Thursday after the European Central Bank (ECB) struck a dovish tone during its latest monetary policy statement, which sent the Euro down against the majority of its major currency peers. Money markets added into bets of a 50 basis point rate cut from the ECB by June despite firm language from ECB President Christine Lagarde…
