Citi reported Friday that investors poured more capital into fixed income funds than equity funds for the week that ended February 15. Market participants also continued to inject cash into global and European based funds, the data showed.
For the week, fixed income funds received $5.5B worth of cash, whereas equity funds attracted only $300M.
Additionally, the financial institution stated in a note to clients that global funds documented $1.3B worth of inflows. At the same time, European funds noticed an intake of $1.5B, which according to Citi “mostly went to regional ETFs, which have already witnessed $8.7B of inflows over the past 7 weeks.”
Around the globe, U.S. funds suffered retractions of $2.2B, China funds experienced $1.7B of net outflows, Taiwan reported $200M of net selling, yet India observed $500M worth of inflows.
